The Kenya Revenue Authority has rolled out a simplified filing system targeted at small and micro enterprises, part of a broader push to widen the tax base without imposing the compliance burden associated with standard corporate filing requirements.
The new system allows eligible small businesses to file under a simplified turnover-based regime, reducing the accounting complexity required compared to standard corporate tax filing.
Business Community Response
Small business associations have broadly welcomed the simplification, though some have called for accompanying taxpayer education to ensure the new system is well understood at the point of adoption.
